2023-2024申请季招生政策、补充文书大幅调整｜最新要求汇总

随着8月Common App正式开放，新一轮申请季的号角就此吹响。

而6月美国最高法院宣判废除大学招生的平权法案，也使得这个申请季注定与以往不同。大学纷纷调整了招生政策：

• 很多学校增加涉及申请者“文化背景”与“生活经历”的补充文书；
• 西北大学不再强制要求学生提交Common App或Coalition上的主文书；
• 明尼苏达大学双城分校、卫斯理大学、西方学院、弗吉尼亚理工学院等校撤销校友优先录取；
• 弗吉尼亚理工学院还同时取消了早行动录取（Early Decision）；
• 维克森林大学增设针对第一代大学生的早行动录取（Early Action）；
• 拉法叶学院宣布只看活动列表的前6项，以使那些更难在活动上投入时间、精力和金钱的低收入群体拥有更多的竞争机会。

大学希望通过这些举措来促进录取公平，增加学生的多元性。

其中，从各个学校更新的补充文书要求来看，多数学校的调整主要是针对平权法案取消所进行的调整，莎拉劳伦斯学院更是直接在补充文书中直接引用了首席大法官John Roberts判决书中的话。学校的这些调整一方面是提问方式更符合判决要求，另一方面也能获得关于学生身份、文化背景的更多信息。

本文对部分大学的文书要求进行了整理汇总，希望能够给奋战申请季的大家一些参考和帮助。

哈佛大学

Harvard University

深陷舆论漩涡的哈佛大学调整了今年的补充文书题目，由5个必选问题（回答不超过200个词）取代了原本的1道必选+2道可选文书题目，每道题目回答不超过200个词，内容涉及生活经历、学术成就、未来期望等等。

1）Harvard has long recognized the importance of enrolling a diverse student body. How will the life experiences that shape who you are today enable you to contribute to Harvard? (200 words)

哈佛大学很早就认识到学生群体多元化的重要性。那些塑造了今天的你的人生经历将如何帮助你为哈佛做出贡献?

2）Briefly describe an intellectual experience that was important to you. (200 words)

今年哥伦比亚大学的补充文书呈现出一个有趣的组合，有原样保留的旧题目、重新表述后的旧题目以及新加入的题目，并对字数限制做了调整。

新增加的题目：

In college/university, students are often challenged in ways that they could not predict or anticipate. It is important to us, therefore, to understand an applicant’s ability to navigate through adversity. Please describe a barrier or obstacle you have faced and discuss the personal qualities, skills or insights you have developed as a result. (150 words or fewer)

宾大调整了文书的第三个题目，申请不同学院的学生需要回答各个学院特定的问题，而不再是此前笼统的阐述学术计划。

申请护理学院的学生需要回答下面的问题：

Penn Nursing intends to meet the health needs of society in a global and multicultural world by preparing its students to impact healthcare by advancing science and promoting equity. What do you think this means for the future of nursing, and how do you see yourself contributing to our mission of promoting equity in healthcare? (150-200 words)

申请文理学院的学生需要回答下面的问题：

The flexible structure of The College of Arts and Sciences’ curriculum is designed to inspire exploration, foster connections, and help you create a path of study through general education courses and a major. What are you curious about and how would you take advantage of opportunities in the arts and sciences? (150-200 words)

申请沃顿商学院的学生需要回答下面的问题：

Wharton prepares its students to make an impact by applying business methods and economic theory to real-world problems, including economic, political, and social issues.  Please reflect on a current issue of importance to you and share how you hope a Wharton education would help you to explore it.  (150-200 words)

申请工程与应用科学学院的学生需要回答下面的问题：

Penn Engineering prepares its students to become leaders in technology, by combining a strong foundation in the natural sciences and mathematics, exploration in the liberal arts, and depth of study in focused disciplinary majors. Please share how you hope to explore your engineering interests at Penn. (150-200 words)

约翰霍普金斯大学

Johns Hopkins University

约翰霍普金斯大学修改了补充文书题目，并将字数上限从400改为了300：

Tell us about an aspect of your identity (eg. race, gender, sexuality, religion, community, etc…) or a life experience that has shaped you as an individual and how that influenced what you’d like to pursue in college at Hopkins. (This can be a future goal or experience that is either academic, extracurricular or social).  300 word limit. *

西北大学的文书要求应该是今年变化最大的之一，学校不再强制要求申请者提交Common App或Coalition系统的个人文书，而是发布了一套学校自己设计的补充文书，以了解申请者整个高中阶段的经历。学校也表示，如果申请者觉得完成西北大学的补充文书不足以展现全部的信息和特质，学校也欢迎申请者提交Common App上的主文书。
